When configuring an output and a probe value is being used to drive the relay, the Feed Type may include a Deadband option.
A Deadband is the offset created to prevent short cycling or toggling of a relay. This offset allows the value to climb above and drop below the setpoint before the controller takes action based on a probe's reported value.
For example, if a Value Feed is configured with a Set Point of 100, Direction is Higher with a Deadband setting of 10. The relay will act as follows:
1. The relay will not engage until the probe's reported value falls to 90 (100-10) [setpoint - deadband]
2. The relay will continue to run until the probe's reported value is 110 (100+10) [setpoint + deadband]
Deadband values are determined by the user when a Feed is configured. The Deadband value may be edited by the user at any time.
