LIMITS

Run-Time LIMITS

Limits are used to prevent overfeeding of chemicals. Do not disable LIMIT feature.

THOR offers three feed run-time based LIMITS. LIMITS, when reached, will shut down or lockout the configured output or FEED. LIMITS are configured in the OUTPUT section of the programming summary page and are configured individually for each output (relay). The three FREQUENCY PERIODS options are:

  • Continuous

  • Hourly

  • Daily

When the operator defined run-time (in minutes) is reached during the specified FREQUENCY PERIOD, the feed will lockout (not run) for the duration of the PERIOD. For Hourly and Daily periods the respective lockout will remain in effect until the start of the next period. For example if a LIMIT is reached for the Hourly period the lockout will remain in effect for the balance of the current hour. The Limit timer will reset at the top of each hour and the lockout will automatically be released allowing the Feed to operate in the next hour. This process repeats every hour. For the Daily Period the reset automatically occurs each night at Midnight and the LIMIT counter restarts for the next day.

The Continuous Limit tracks CONTINUOUS run-time, in minutes, for a feed. If the feed (output) meets the user defined continuous limit the feed will lock out and will NOT automatically reset. In cases where a Continuous Limit is reached user interaction is required to reset the feed. THIS LIMIT OPTION DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY RESET. Should the CONTINUOUS limit be reached the feed will continue to be locked out (not run) until the operator performs the following:

  • Determine the cause of the LIMIT violation and correct the issue

  • Using ZEUS software - Log into the controller with mobile or computer application

  • Navigate to the target feed (Output) that is locked out by the LIMIT

  • Change the LIMIT configuration to “NONE” save and submit the configuration.

  • With LIMIT cleared operator may now reconfigure the Continuous LIMT to reestablish a LIMIT lockout.

When programming remember to advance to last page ("Skip to Last" button) and select SUMBIT CONFIG to send programming to the controller.

Navigate to the configuration page for the target output (relay). Then select the Limits page section

From the "Frequency" Drop down select the desired Limit Period option - Daily, Hourly, Continuous.
In the Limit box enter the time in Minutes for the desired maximum run time for the selected PERIOD
Note maximum minutes for each period:
Hourly - 59 minutes  ( a 59 minute setting allows 1 minute of run time per hour)
Daily - 1439 minutes (a 1439 minute setting allows 1 minute of run time per 24 hour day - Midnight to Midnight)
Continuous - an value greater than 1 may be entered. Note: when the output (Feed) run time value is reached the relay will not run until such time operator program the LIMIT to NONE to reset the timer.

If "None" is selected then no limit will be enforced. The None option is not recommended as there is no protection for overfeeding in the event of a sensor failure.

Please note : disabling the Continuous Limit nullifies the NSF50 Certification.
The example below is a LIMIT set at 300 minutes. In cases where the FEED runs for 300 minutes, without interruption, the relay and chemical feed will stop and stay locked out until operator resets.
