THOR Digital Controllers offer two output (relay) types, Digital and Analog.
Digital Outputs come standard with THOR Controllers:
THOR L800 has 8 Digital powered relays
THOR L400 has 4 Digital powered relays
Digital relays are powered and offer on/off functionality. The most common application would be to turn a feed pump on/off. The installed relays offer both Normally Open (NO) and Normally Closed (NC) configuration. Both NO & NC may be required for terminal equipment (i.e. powered valves) requiring power to turn on and turn off. THOR digital relays are factory wired in the NORMALLY OPEN configuration.
When configuring outputs in ZEUS software the DIGITAL option refers to the powered relays and is the most common application.
Analog Outputs do NOT come standard and require the purchase of an analog module sold separately. Analog modules come in banks of 4 analog channels.
Analog outputs are used for the following:
1) sending a 4-20mA current to terminal pumps typically for proportional feed
2) running a PID feed
3) Re-Transmit Feature - sending a 4-20mA current to a third party system (DCS or Scada)
Please note, in addition to the optional Analog Module third party terminal equipment must support Analog inputs.
